Must-read article about the financial crisis, from Simon Johnson writing in The Atlantic. There is also a companion piece of sorts, an article by Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone that is very powerful and an unvarnished attack on the dismantling of the Glass-Steagal Act, presided over by Bill Clinton and Phil Gramm. I’m linking to it but a warning: he does use profanity.

Horace Greeley High School →
Where I’m teaching now, as of Monday. I’m a leave replacement until June, and have five classes of extremely nice students: three sophomore groups in European Civilization and two freshman classes of Global Studies. In my few days so far, everyone has been extremely supportive and lovely.
Australia Thoughts
It’s now been almost a week since we returned from Australia, and I’m still processing a lot of what we saw and learned.
